Brüt Design's founder, Gerard Williams, was trained in New York City by the French Ébéniste, Antoine Schapira.  Ébénisterie, the French tradition of cabinet making, is known for it's exceptional use of a wide range of materials including Urushi lacquer, eggshell, metal leafs, shagreen, precious veneers, rye straw and many more.  It is also known for its unrivaled elegance in proportion and form.  Each piece we make pays hommage to this rich tradition while translating these ancient techniques into modern designs.

Drawing on diverse inspiration, Brüt combines an admiration for the organic, the offbeat, and the macabre, with a refined technical hand.  Brüt creations are hand made and one of a kind;  and bring depth and wonder to any interior.
